Bachmann Ivatt Class 4MT 2-6-0 43018 BR Lined Black Early with Double Chimney

The last ocomotives designed by the LMS and this unconventional design was influenced by the success of the American S160 locos of the 2nd World War. Thier ease of maintenance rather than known for their aesthetics meant their contruction of a high-mounted boiler and running plate for quick access earned them the nickname of the 'Mighty Duck'.

All 162 locos that were built between 1947 and 1952 worked within the LMW, ER and Scottish regions.The first 50 being built with a double chimney, although the exhaust problems casued by this led to the following batch being improved with a single chimney before all of the locos were modified with the same chimney. A powerful and reliable locomotive, suited to mixed traffic work. Only No.43106 survived into preservation.
