Scalextric came from the Scalex brand of Minimodels Ltd, which was a clockwork powered race car system that first appeared in 1952. Their inventor, Mr B. "Freddie" Francis, showed Scalextric ("Scalex" plus "electric") cars at the annual Harrogate Toy Fair in 1957 in the UK.
The majority of Scalextric products are 1:32 scale, with a MICRO range for younger drivers in 1/64th scale. All sets offer a great entry into this historic and ever growing hobby, with just enough track included to get you hooked. From here you can add individual track pieces or track packs to help create your own powered race way.
From here you can now start adding to your garage, with cars covering nearly all forms of motorsport and road cars from the biggest names around, old and new. The Scalextric range also offers you track side buildings, barriers, pit crews and other stand alone products to further bring your miniature world alive.
Here at Modelzone, we have come to love Scalextric and its importance, which is why we are proud to have a massive selection at great prices for all to own, collect and play.
