The modern 214 Class submarine is suitable for a broad spectrum of applications, both in shallow and deep water areas. 65 m long, it displaces 1,700 tonnes, is armed with 8 torpedo tubes and has a crew of 27. Its sensors, weapons and revolutionary “fuel cell power plant” makes the 214 Class ideal for missions against enemy submarines and surface vessels, reconnaissance and surveillance, support for operational units and Special Forces missions. The fuel cell power plant and advanced engine enables the submarine to remain submerged for very long periods and also makes it extremely difficult to locate due to reduced emissions and signatures. At present there are seven 214 Class subs under construction: four for the Greek Navy and three for the Navy of South Korea Model-details:
