Before the development of the British Motorway system, millions of letters were transported from town to town by rail. Many of these trains travelled at night and included a TPO coach in which bags of letters and parcels were collected, sorted and then dropped off at stations along the route.

This set not only includes the 0-6-0 loco but also a TPO coach and support coach. The set also includes the mail drop which automatically drops the mail bag into the coach as it passes by and then ejects it into the drop box as it passes that.

The product was defective - main control. this is no fault of the supplier, but rather the manufacturer and it took two attempts in the mail to sort it. but the supplier behaved perfectly and helped promptly and curteously, just a pity the birthday gift didn't quite work out...

I think that this is a very good starter train. It hasn't been back in the box since it was opened on my sons birthday. Setting it up was quick and easy although setting it up so that the mail bag was collected and dropped off correctly took me ages.......but that might just be me!

Purchased in one of their sales at a bargain price - so well worth the money for an interactive train set. Although some may say that Hornby haven't used the appropriate loco for a mail train - its still good fun and easy to build upon.
