The JU88 G6 went into development in June 1943, after it was determined from observations of combat results that the solid nosed JU 88R Nightfighter suffered a lack of firepower. The G6 Variant was not only fitted with various radar features but was also kitted out with 4 forward firing MG151 machine guns and two 20mm cannons mounted on the upper fuselage.
