At the end of World War II, Reimar and Walter Horten were two of the best-known designers of flying wing aircraft in Germany. In 1942 they developed a tailless flying wing aircraft known as the Horten Ho IX. Equipped with two BMW 003A-1 jet engines, this first attempt was less than successful.  When the second prototype received a Jumo 004B-1 engine, it achieved its first flight with speeds of over 780 km/h. Designated the Go 229, operational versions of the Horten  - Go 229 A-O V3  - used the more powerful a Jumo 004-C engine.  Model details:
