The EC145 is medium weight twin-engined helicopter that was developed as a joint venture by Eurocopter and the Japanese firm Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Compared with the original BK 117, the EC145 received a new fuselage with a roomier cabin. Advantages of the new rotor blades on the EC145 were a considerable reduction in vibrations and a 25% extension of the range. The EC145 is licensed for blind flight and can be operated with one or two pilots including at night. It is particularly preferred for use as a search and rescue helicopter due to its considerably wider range than that of other helicopters in its class. All these characteristics are also in great demand in the USA, which makes the EC145 an attractive choice for private air rescue services that are members of non-profit organisations such as MedStar. Since 1978, the Lee County Emergency Medical Services - EMS - in Mort Myers, South West Florida have been responsible for the air rescue and overland transport of patients over an area of 1000 square miles in the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to use for rescue flights the EC145 is used by the German police for surveillance and transport purposes. The three EC145s equipped with the latest technology, which are stationed with the Hessen police helicopter squadron at Egelsbach, specialise in tracing and search, lifesaving and rescue missions.

The orginal order was not recieved so after a period of time I contact MZ who arranged for despatch of a replacement consignment. Alternatively a subsequent order could not be completed due to stocktaking and recording issues. The product on the website was not available at the sale price.
