The quirky and inelegant looking Supermarine Walrus was a single-engined amphibious biplane that was used by the Royal Navy from the mid 1930s onwards.  The Walrus was robustly constructed to enable it to withstand both catapult take-offs and potential rough seas around the mother ship. This type was also used on aircraft carriers thanks to the fact that it was the first amphibious biplane with a retractable undercarriage.  One role with the Royal Navy was maritime reconnaissance, but its primary task soon became air/sea rescue and many downed aircrews owed their lives to the Walrus.

i looked forward to this kit coming but when i started to make it i found problems with getting the wings to fit in the centre in the end i gave up with it .

good overall but too many items on offer are marked discontinued or out of stock--these should be removed as they are not on sale so why list them?????
